The Toronto Police Service have arrested three three people in a car jacking/robbery. Zain Shahzad, Saad Sohail, and a youth face numerous charges.
On Sunday, January 26, 2025, at approximately 9:02 p.m., police responded to a call for a Robbery in the Markham Road and Progress Avenue area.
Police say four suspects travelling in a stolen Honda Civic went to a parking lot and the victim was sitting inside their vehicle. Three suspects wearing masks to disguise their identities approached the victim. They produced handguns and demanded the victim exit their vehicle and drove away in the victim’s vehicle with the Honda Civic
Members of the Hold Up Squad along with officers from 43 Division Primary Response unit and Major Crime Unit quickly responded and located the victim’s stolen vehicle and attempted to stop it.
It is further alleged that the stolen vehicle collided with a police vehicle and a nearby parked vehicle before striking a tree.
The responding officers were able to take the three occupants into custody. Officers also located the original stolen Honda Civic nearby.
It is further alleged that officers recovered a loaded Glock handgun inside the Honda Civic – an image has been released
Zain Shahzad, 19, of Toronto, was charged with:

He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 10 a.m., in room 103.
Saad Sohail, 18, of Toronto, was charged with:
- Robbery With Firearm
- Disguise With Intent
- Pointing a Firearm
- Possession Loaded Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession Firearm Knowing it’s Possession is Unauthorized
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Careless Storage of Firearm
- two counts of Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over
- two counts of Fail to Comply Release Order
He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 10 a.m., in room 103.
A youth* was charged with:

He was scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice, 10 Armoury Street, on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 10 a.m., in room 606.
