Public tips have led to the arrest of 48-year-old Steven Berezay, of Calgary, in a hit-and-run in a grocery store parking lot in October 2023.
Calgary Police say they have charged Berezay with hit-and-run causing bodily harm. He appears in court on April 16.
They say that Oct. 10, 2023, at approximately 1:25 p.m., a 77-year-old woman was struck in the parking lot of the Sobeys in Cranston located at 3000, 356 Cranston Road S.E.
At the time, the woman was walking across the parking lot with a shopping cart when a vehicle, described as a dark-blue, two-door, 2005-2010 Chevrolet Cobalt with black rims, reversed out of a west-facing parking stall, struck her and knocked her to the ground causing serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
The vehicle fled the scene.
The woman was taken to hospital in stable condition but her condition has deteriorated afterwards.
