ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — A 53‑year‑old Abbotsford man is in custody after being charged in connection with two separate sexual assaults reported to police earlier this year.
Patrol officers first began investigating in January 2026 after a woman reported being sexually assaulted the previous month, in December 2025. Because of the nature of the allegations, the case was transferred to the AbbyPD Sex Crimes Unit.
On May 12, detectives assumed conduct of a second sexual‑assault investigation involving a different female victim. Investigators believe the same suspect was involved in both incidents.
That same day, Angelo Roefaro, 53, of Abbotsford, was formally charged with two counts of sexual assault, assault, administering a stupefying substance, and theft under $5,000.
Roefaro remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing, with his next court appearance scheduled for June 1.
The court has issued publication bans protecting the identities of both victims.
The Abbotsford Police Department has now released a photo of Roefaro in an effort to identify additional witnesses, victims, or anyone with information about his activities.
Anyone who may have information, or who believes they may be an additional victim, is urged to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604‑859‑5225.
