Police arrest Michael Darren Harris.
A 37‑year‑old man is in custody after Winnipeg police linked him to three armed robberies targeting taxi drivers in the downtown area over a two‑week span.
Between Feb. 17 and March 1, 2026, officers responded to three similar incidents in which a male suspect robbed cab drivers while armed with what appeared to be a firearm. All three robberies occurred along or near Sargent Avenue, and no injuries were reported.
- On Feb. 17, a driver was robbed near Agnes Street and Sargent Avenue.
- On Feb. 21, a driver was robbed of personal property and had their taxi stolen at the same intersection.
- On March 1, a driver was robbed in the 500 block of Sargent Avenue.
The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigations and identified a single suspect believed to be responsible for all three incidents.
Michael Darren Harris, 37, has been charged with three counts of robbery, three counts of possession of a weapon, and three counts of using an imitation firearm during the commission of an indictable offence. He remains in custody.
