The Nunavut RCMP’s Major Crime Unit have charged a Rankin Inlet man with manslaughter.
On April 30, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m, the Rankin Inlet RCMP responded to a report of a sudden death in a residence on Inukshuk Ave. The Nunavut RCMP’s Major Crime Unit (MCU) took over the investigation, with the assistance of the Rankin Inlet RCMP, and were able to determine the death suspicious and that criminality was suspected.
On December 10, 2025, the Nunavut RCMP’s Major Crime Unit charged Jay Camphaug (age 54) with the Manslaughter of Tony Van Eindhoven (age 55).
Camphaug was remanded into custody, and his next court appearance is scheduled for December 15, 2025, in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut.
