The Toronto Police Service is investigating the murder of Derrick Cheung, 35, of Brampton.
On Monday, Oct. 6, at approximately 9:45 p.m., police attended a business in the Vulcan Street and Iron Street area.
The victim was located deceased. Following an autopsy, the death was deemed a homicide on Oct. 8, 2025.
Cheung is Toronto’s 33rd homicide of 2025.
On October 7, 2025, Lennard Emptage, 36, of Georgetown, was arrested and charged with improper/indecent interference with a dead body.
He appeared in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 10 a.m., in room 107.
On Oct. 8, 2025, Lennard Emptage was additionally charged with second-degree murder.
He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Oct. 9, 2025, at 10 a.m., in room 107.
