The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) Homicide Section has charged a male in the murder of 42-year-old Andrew Donald McCabe, who was found deceased in central Edmonton last month.
On Oct. 8, 2025, at approximately 8:50 p.m., Edmonton Police Service Downtown Division patrol officers responded to reports of gun shots in the area of 107 Avenue and 109 Street. Upon arrival, they located an injured 42-year-old male outside of a residence and immediately administered life-saving measures. Unfortunately, he was pronounced deceased on scene.
The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office completed an autopsy on Oct. 9, 2025, and determined that Andrew Donald McCabe, 42, died of a gunshot wound and the manner of death is homicide.
On Oct. 18, 2025, police charged Gulied Ahmed Umar, 20, with second degree murder.
Last year Gulied Ahmed Umar, 19, of Edmonton, was charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, six firearm-related offences, two counts of transporting Cannabis/Alcohol within easy access of occupant, two counts of breach of release order, and impaired driving and speeding.
