On Oct. 26, 2025, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Didsbury RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision on the north bound lanes of the QEII, near secondary Highway 582, in Mountain View County. At the time of the collision, both vehicles, a Chevrolet Traverse and a Ford Bronco, were travelling north on the QEII.
The four occupants of the Ford Bronco received significant, non-life threatening injuries and were transported by EMS to a Calgary-area hospital. The lone male occupant of the Chevrolet Traverse fled the collision scene on foot.
With the assistance of additional officers from Olds RCMP and K Division Police Dog Services, the driver of the Chevrolet Traverse was located near the collision scene and arrested for failing to stop after an accident. The male driver, a 43-year-old Airdrie resident, was assessed by EMS and transported to the Didsbury RCMP detachment for further investigation.
North bound traffic on the QEII was diverted for several hours while the collision scene was examined by RCMP Traffic Services – Collision Reconstruction Analyst. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the collision and the investigation is ongoing.
