On Sept. 20, 2025 around 9 a.m., Loon Lake RCMP received a report of a firearm being discharged outside a residence on Island Lake First Nation (also known as Ministikwan).
Officers responded immediately. Investigation determined a suspect discharged a firearm at the residence and was observed driving away in a dark green GMC Yukon, possibly with a female passenger. No injuries were reported to police in relation to the firearm discharge.
As a result of investigation, 31-year-old Frederick Derocher from Island Lake First Nation is charged with:
- one count, discharge firearm while being reckless, Section 244.2(3), Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code; and
- one count, possession of weapon contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code.
A warrant has been issued for Frederick Derocher’s arrest. Loon Lake RCMP continue to work to locate him and ask members of the public to report sightings and information on his whereabouts.
Frederick remains wanted on previous charges including robbery with a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. These charges are in relation to an ongoing investigation from September, 2025.
Frederick Derocher is described as approximately 5’10” and 165 lbs with black hair and brown eyes. A photo of him is attached.
