The Nanaimo RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the person shown in the attached photo. On Saturday October 4, 2025, a vehicle parked along Victoria Crescent was broken into. Taken was a backpack that contained several items. Of note was a silver MacBook Pro laptop and a banjo.
A short time after the theft was reported, the individual shown attempted to pawn a similar style banjo at a nearby pawnshop. The sale was refused and the unidentified person left with the item.
This individual is described as a Caucasian man, 35-45 years of age, medium build and sporting a brown moustache. He was wearing a grey t-shirt, dark grey sweatpants, a black hat worn backwards and white runners. He was also carrying a small grey bag.
The stolen banjo is rather unique as it is handmade, has five strings and the drumhead is made of solid wood. There are no inscriptions on it.
If anyone has information that can assist with the investigation, please call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
