On Sept. 17, 2025, around 2:30 a.m., Fox Lake RCMP members responded to reports of individuals causing a disturbance, locating an injured male, identified as 52-year-old Fort Vermilion, Alta., resident Delbert Noskiye, who was later pronounced deceased. It was later discovered that the incident that resulted in this death also involved another victim who has since recovered from their injuries.
As a result of the investigation, three individuals, 2 adults and a 17-year-old youth, were arrested. Sammy Alook (36), a resident of Garden River, Alta., Brendan Alook (32), a resident of Fox Lake, and the youth were charged with 2nd degree murder and assault causing bodily harm.
All three were brought before a justice of the peace and have been remanded into custody. The youth is to appear before the courts on Oct. 6, 2025, while the adults will appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Vermilion on Oct. 14, 2025.
