Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit have charged a suspect in connection with multiple bank robberies, after officers intervened during an incident in Vaughan.
On Sept. 23, at approximately 12:40 p.m. police responded to the area of Highway 7 West and Weston Road for reports of a bank robbery in progress. A lone male suspect entered the bank, threatened employees and demanded cash. Officers arrived on scene while the suspect was still inside the bank and he was quickly taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was found to be in possession of a replica firearm and a replica explosive device.
The suspect was also charged for three previous bank robberies that were under investigation. These incidents took place on February 5, 2025 at approximately 10:30 a.m., April 21, 2025, at approximately 1 p.m., and on September 22, 2025 at approximately 11:50 a.m., all in the area of Highway 7 West and Marycroft Avenue.
Investigators are releasing a photo of the suspect as they believe there may be additional victims and are encouraging them to come forward.
Carp ZVEAGHINTEV, 50, of no fixed address is charged with:
- Robbery with a Firearm
- Robbery with Offensive Weapon x2
- Robbery
- Disguise with Intent x4
- Use Imitation Firearm During Commission of an Offence
