On Sept. 3, 2025, Grande Prairie RCMP attempted a traffic stop on a pickup truck who then fled from police. On Sept. 4, 2025, Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) located the pickup truck and were able to successfully conduct a traffic stop.
RCMP members approached the vehicle and noted controlled substances in plain sight, resulting in the arrest of the three people.
A search of the vehicle turned up 170 grams of methamphetamines, 75 grams of cocaine, 104 grams of fentanyl, drug trafficking paraphernalia, bear mace, brass knuckles, and Canadian Currency.
Trevor Unrau, 42, or no fixed address, Aiden Laliberté, 32, and Sergion Calona Nunez, 28, both of Grande Prairie, were charged with three counts possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
All three were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. All are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie, with Calona Nunez appearing on Sept. 8, 2025, Unrau on Sept. 9, 2025 and Laliberté on Sept. 17, 2025.
