A late-night traffic stop by the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) Guns and Gangs Unit has resulted in multiple firearms charges for one city man.
The incident occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 30 in the area of 20th Street East and 1st Avenue South. During the stop, officers arrested three individuals and conducted a search of the vehicle.
The search yielded significant evidence, including a Roger SR22 .22 calibre rifle and $2,356 in Canadian currency.
As a result, 20-year-old Anthony Tyler Nahbexie faces four firearms-related offences. A records check also revealed Nahbexie was wanted on three outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Nahbexie was transported to the SPS Detention Centre. He was later seen by a Justice of the Peace and has been remanded into custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 4.
The two other individuals arrested at the scene were subsequently released without any charges being laid.
