Calgary Police Service has located the remains of a missing person who was last seen in the southeast community of Forest Lawn in January 2023. His death is believed to be the result of a homicide.
Robert Stanley MAINLAND, who was also known as Bobby or Bubbles, was last seen near a 7-Eleven convenience store in the 5300 block of 17 Avenue S.E., in early January 2023.
In May 2024, human remains were found at an undisclosed location outside of Calgary. Due to the state of the remains, it took several months to positively identify the remains as belonging to Robert.
After taking additional investigative steps, Calgary police believe that Robert was the victim of foul play and his death is being investigated as a homicide.
“Robert’s family have been without answers for more than two years. We are exploring all possible leads and urging anyone with information to come forward. Even the smallest piece of information can be the detail we need to solve the case.” – Staff Sgt. Mark Rahn, CPS Homicide Unit
