The ongoing investigation into the found human remains located at a property in the RM of Rockwood on November 21, 2024, has been confirmed as a homicide.
The victim has been identified as 75-year-old Dimitar Rachev.
On May 15, 2025, officers from RCMP Major Crime Services, with assistance of a forensic anthropology team, revisited the location and conducted a secondary ground search.
On Nov. 26, 2024, a tip received from the public led RCMP officers to an address in Winnipeg where the 2007 Saturn Ion was located.
Over the two days of November 22 and 23, RCMP officers from Forensic Identification Services, Search and Rescue, Major Crime Services and the Stonewall Detachment, with assistance of a forensic anthropology team, conducted an extensive ground search on the property located off of Highway 7 in the RM of Rockwood.
The vehicle was secured and removed from the street where it will be examined further.
On Nov. 21, 2024, at approximately 8:45 am, Stonewall RCMP responded to the report of found human remains near a residence located in the RM of Rockwood.
RCMP are looking to speak with anyone who had contact with Dimitar Rachev any time after Nov. 1, 2024.
RCMP are also requesting the public’s assistance in locating the male pictured in the attached photographs who police believe may have information about the event.
