On May 23, 2025, police arrested a man in the death of a seven-week-old baby in 2023.
On Dec. 8, 2023, Williams Lake RCMP responded to the area hospital for a report of a deceased seven-week-old infant. There were signs of trauma and police were immediately notified.
Police attended the family home where they found another child suffering from trauma. BC RCMP Major Crime were called and assumed conduct of the investigation.
The BC Prosecution Service has approved charges in relation to this investigation and on May 23, 2025, Russel Solomon was arrested for second degree murder and assault causing bodily harm in relation to the second child. He remains in police custody.
