On March 30, 2023, the body of Tara Miller (37), a resident of Calgary, was located near Highway 522 and 128 Street near Okotoks, Alta. The cause of death was deemed to be a homicide and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit were called in to investigate.
On Jan. 18, 2024, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit, assisted by the Calgary Police Service and the RCMP Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, arrested four people for the murder of Tara.
On Nov. 13, 2024, Alberta Major Crimes Unit, with assistance from Interview Assistance Team, RCMP General Investigation Section, and Airdrie Detachment, arrested and charged a fifth person for this homicide. Paul Fettig (43), a resident of Calgary, has been charged with manslaughter. After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Fettig was remanded to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on Nov. 18, 2024.
