Calgary Police are asking the public to report sights of 37-year-old Jessey James Pearson who is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for first-degree murder.
Police say he failed to turn himself into the Calgary Remand Centre with 24 hours of the Alberta Court of Appeal ruled he has to stand trial a second time in the hired shooting death of Ronnie Olara Obina on Nov. 3, 2017.
The appeal court found that the Court of King’s Bench judge had erred when he ruled Pearson’s confession in a Mr. Big undercover RCMP sting was inadmissible.
A jury has already convicted Jayme Scott Denovan of murder. Denovan had admitted that he ambushed and shot Obina in the head, saying he was offered $14,000 and paid $4,000 by two men he didn’t know to kill Obina.
During the undercover sting, Denovan told undercover officers that Pearson had assisted him in the killing by driving him to the scene in a stolen Jeep that was later torched by Pearson.
Pearson is about 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds. He has a medium build, green eyes and light brown hair.
