On June 29, at approximately 12:55 a.m., Red Deer RCMP received a 911 call reporting a robbery in progress at a business located in the Anders Park East neighbourhood of Red Deer. Responding officers quickly arrived at the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation.
It was determined that the suspect entered the business and produced a hammer, demanding money from the staff. Thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of Red Deer RCMP General Duty officers, Police Dog Services (PDS), Downtown Patrol Unit (DPU), and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), the suspect was located a short distance from the scene and arrested without incident.
Aurie Peigan, 30, of Red Deer, has been charged with robbery.
Peigan was taken before a Justice of the Peace and released with conditions. His next court date is scheduled for July 29 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
