Two men were arrested by Wood Buffalo RCMP, with help from RCMP Emergency Response Team. They executed a search warrant at a home on Chalifour Street in Parsons Creek North in Fort McMurray in a drug investigation.
At the home, police seized two loaded handguns, prohibited ammunition, approximately $15, 000 in Canadian Currency, approximately five ounces of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Said Abdi, 20, of Edmonton, and Daniel Carty, 21, of Fort McMurray were arrested at the residence at the time of the search.
Abdi was charged with:
-Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine;
-Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000;
-Two counts Careless storage of a firearm;
-Two counts Possession of a weapon dangerous to public;
-Two counts Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
-Two counts Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm;
Two counts Possession of a firearm with readily accessible ammunition;
-Two counts failing to comply with conditions of an order;
-Possession of prohibited ammunition; and
-Careless storage of ammunition
Abdi was held in police custody to appear before a Justice of the Peace. He was remanded into custody and is to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice – Fort McMurray on April 9.
Carty, was charged with:
-Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine;
-Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000;
-Two counts Careless storage of a firearm;
-Two counts Possession of a weapon dangerous to public;
-Two counts Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
-Two counts Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm; and
-Two counts Possession of a firearm with readily accessible ammunition;
Carty was held in police custody to appear before a Justice of the Peace. He has since been released from police custody and is to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice – Fort McMurray on April 30.
