Winnipeg Police arrested Cory Lee Whalen, 40, of Winnipeg in the random abduction and rape of a teenage girl in the city’s Spence neighbourhood on Sept. 25, 2023.
Whalen is charged with three counts of sexual assault with a weapon, sexual assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, administering a noxious substance, kidnapping, forcible confinement, assault by choking, and failing to comply with a probation order.
The girl was walking in the 3000 block of Portage Avenue the evening of Sept. 24, 2023, when she was abducted at knifepoint.
Whalen drove her to an undisclosed location, where she was sexually assaulted repeatedly over several hours. She eventually fled and used a passerby’s cellular phone to call police.
