LUHAR remains in custody and will next appear in court on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025.
Calgary Police say he is charged with multiple sexual-related offences following reports from three different teenage victims who are believed to have been sexually assaulted by the same man.
In March 2024, the victim, who was 15 at the time of the incident, was with two friends at the Central Library, located at 800 Third St. S.E., and met a man who befriended the group of teens. A short time later, the three teens agreed to leave the library with the man and all four individuals got into the man’s car and drove around downtown, while the man offered the teens drugs.
Eventually the victim’s two friends left the vehicle, and the victim was alone with the man in the car. The man agreed to drive the victim to her residence, but on the way, made an unexpected stop at a parking lot in northwest Calgary, where he inappropriately touched the victim.
The victim was dropped off at her residence and reported the incident to police several weeks later.
In another instance, an additional victim, who was 13 at the time of the incident, came forward to police in the spring of 2024. The victim reported two occasions where she is believed to have met the same man downtown, and subsequently spent time with him in hotel rooms where he touched her inappropriately and sexually assaulted her, while offering her drugs.
Calgary Police Child Abuse Unit launched an investigation into the incidents and identified a third victim who recently came forward to police and reported she was sexually assaulted by the same man in February 2024, when she was 15 years old.
At the time, the man once again befriended the victim in downtown Calgary, took her to a nearby hotel room and sexually assaulted her while offering her drugs.
