On Dec. 9, 2024, RCMP Major Crimes, with the support of Calgary Police Service, located and arrested a third male in connection with Kyle Schuiling’s murder.
Prior to Chad McKinnon’s arrest south of Langdon, Alta., he fled from officers in a white sedan. In fleeing, he damaged two police vehicles near Gleichen, Alta. The officer’s involved sustained minor physical injuries during this incident.
Chad McKinnon (41), a resident of Strathmore, was arrested and has been charged with:
- Accessory After the Fact to Murder
- Dangerous Driving
- Flight from Police
- Fail to Comply with a Probation Order
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Operating a motor vehicle without holding a subsisting operator’s license

On April 3, 2024, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes took over an investigation after human remains were located in Rocky View County and the cause of death was deemed to be a homicide. The deceased was identified as 33-year-old Kyle Schuiling, a resident of Calgary.
On May 3, 2024, Christopher Stack (39), a resident of Calgary, was charged with the first-degree murder of Kyle Schuiling.
Then, on Aug. 13, 2024, RCMP Major Crimes Unit arrested and charged Tyler Griffiths (37), a resident of Vernon, B.C., with the first-degree murder of Kyle Schuiling.
