Multiple parked vehicles sustained significant damage, and others were destroyed after a driving incident early this afternoon. The incident began at approximately 1:00 PM on Third St, between Watfield Ave and Wakesiah Ave.
The only injuries reported were to the driver of the suspect vehicle and passenger. Both occupants were taken for medical treatment in what is being described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Police, Fire and BCEHS responded. Based on evidence gathered, it appears the suspect vehicle, a full size white newer model pickup, was proceeding westbound along Third St when the driver suddenly lost control of his vehicle and drove into numerous parked vehicles.
The suspect vehicle then crossed over the median where it struck other parked vehicles. The pickup veered back into the west bound lane, eventually coming to a rest after striking several other parked vehicles near the intersection of Wakesiah Ave.
“The roadway remains closed while tow truck removed damages vehicles and the debris field is cleaned up, “said R/Cst Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.
The investigation continues.
